The Story:

After a narrow escape from the vampire Luke, Buffy is able to save her new friends, Xander and Willow, but not Jesse. The gang reconvienes at the library where Giles explains Buffy's secret idenitity to Xander and Willow. He also relates some history of the town of Sunnydale. Originally named Boca del Inferno, Sunnydale is located on top of the Hellmouth, a mystical doorway between the human and demon dimensions which the Master plans to open in an event called the Harvest. Once again Buffy encounters her mysterious stranger who finally introduces himself as Angel. Willow helps Giles research and Xander follows Buffy into the sewers in an attempt to save Jesse. They arrive too late and find that the Master has already turned Jesse into a vampire. Later at the Bronze, Xander stakes his first vampire, his friend Jesse, and Buffy stops the Harvest by dusting Luke after tricking him into believing it is daytime.

Giles: We've prevented the Master from freeing himself and opening the mouth of Hell. That's not to say he's going to stop trying. I'd say the fun is just beginning.
Willow: More vampires?
Giles: Not just vampires. The next threat we face may be something quite different.
Buffy: I can hardly wait!
Giles: We're at the center of a mystical convergence here. We may, in fact, stand between the Earth and its total destruction.
Buffy: Well, I gotta look on the bright side. Maybe I can still get kickedout of school!
Xander: Oh, yeah, that's a plan. Cause lots of schools aren't on Hellmouths.
Willow: Maybe you could blow something up. They're really strict about that.
Buffy: I was thinking a more subtle approach, y'know, like excessive not studying.
Giles: The Earth is doomed!
Slayage - 5 - Buffy stakes Luke as well as dusting two other vampires with a tree branch and pool cue, and a fourth beheaded by cymbal. Xander stakes Jesse.
Body Count - 3 - Jesse turned into a vampire; bouncer and blonde girl bit by Luke at Bronze.
