The Story:
- - How Did We Get Here - -
Willow and Tara are happily in love again. Buffy goes to the Troika's lair to confront them about the hidden cameras they've been using to spy on her, but finds their place empty. She nearly gets killed, though, by a booby trap the Trio left for her. Dawn confronts Spike about how much he hurt Buffy by sleeping with Anya. Meanwhile Xander lets Buffy know how hurt and disgusted he is with her relationship with Spike. Later Spike's apology for his actions with Anya, quickly turns into a case of attempted rape when Buffy admits she has feeling for him but doesn't trust him enough to ever be completely in love with him. Spike decides its time for a change and leaves Sunnydale on an unknown mission. Xander's and Buffy's reconciliation is brought to an abrupt halt when Warren seriously injures Buffy after shooting her in the chest. Matters are made worse when a stray bullet hits Tara, killing her instantly.

Say What? - quote of the week... More Quotes
Spike: You should have let him kill me.
Buffy: I couldn't.
Spike: Why?
Buffy: You know why.
Spike: Because you love me.
Buffy: No. I don't.
Spike: Why do you keep lying to yourself?
Buffy: I'm not saying I don't have feelings for you. I do. But it's not love. I could never trust you enough for it to become that.
Spike: Trust is for old marrieds, Buffy. Great love is wild and passionate and dangerous. It burns and consumes.
Buffy: Until there's nothing left. That kind of love doesn't last.

Awesome!! - don't miss these highlights
** As implied by the title look for the many uses of the color red throughout the episode; the red lining of the Trio's coats, the red shirt of the vampire staked by Buffy, the red tail light of Spike's motorcycle, the red pillow in the background of Spike's crypt, and the red in Willow's eyes after Tara's death are just a few of many examples.
** Amber Benson's addition to the opening credits before her character, Tara's, untimely death.
** Spike's near rape of Buffy in the Summers's bathroom.
