The Story:

Xander, Buffy and Dawn await Willow's return. They become concerned after Willow's plane arrives but, apparently, she does not. Simultaneously, Willow arrives at the airport yet cannot see her friends. The gang worries that Willow has reverted back to her black magic ways. Willow, concerned that her friends are avoiding her, turns to Anya for help. At the high school Buffy and Xander find a body. Willow, also at the scene, never sees Xander or Buffy. Dawn's research turns up a skin-eating demon named Gnarl. Xander and Buffy, with Spike's help, locate Gnarl's cave but quickly leave, never seeing Willow, after Dawn gets slashed by Gnarl's paralyzing fingernails. Anya alerts the gang to Willow's presence in town and Buffy narrowly saves a badly injured Willow from Gnarl. Willow realizes that she, not yet ready to face her friends, unconsciously did a spell that prevented her from seeing, or being seen, by Dawn, Xander or Buffy.
